She is a mission-driven, effective relationship builder, who believes in leading and developing performance-based and outcome-based programs. Edwina has been fortunate to work in higher education for a number of years advancing the university’s mission and enhancing levels of engagement with the alumni community. Edwina Simms currently leads the regional engagement efforts in the Southeast Region for the University of Denver. Based in the Washington, D.C. office, Edwina develops and implements strategies to increase and enhance alumni engagement efforts from the District of Columbia to state of Florida. In collaboration with her colleagues, she works to elevate regional programing, while supporting the university’s advancement goals, and enhancing the mission across the region. Her previous roles include Director of Multicultural and Affinity Engagement at American University in Washington, D.C. as well as Senior Director for youth and social events with the American Heart Association. Edwina brings over 12 years of experience in nonprofit management and constituency engagement, including a government and community relations background in the state of Florida, as the former Director of Lobbying at her alma mater, the University of Central Florida (UCF). Edwina received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in African American Studies from UCF. She later obtained her Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Strayer University, and recently became a Certified Diversity Professional. Edwina enjoys traveling and creating new memories with her husband, Gavin Simms, and their children, Gavin Ethan and Gianna Lynn. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.
